I woke in the wee hours of the morning with the legs of two daughters thrown across mine and a MASSIVE headache. That is way too many legs in one bed. Apparently, this is a thing. The headache, not the legs. I saw references to the “infamous Medifast headache” online, and Medifast is the parent company of Optavia. I don’t really know what that’s about, but I came down to drink a shake so that I could take some medicine and then went back to bed for awhile to lie in the dark and escape the awful Minecraft youtube videos my kids are watching downstairs.
1st Fueling: Chocolate Cherry Shake
I made this one the same way I made the chocolate one yesterday. It was fine–neither good nor bad, but I liked the plain chocolate one better.
2nd Fueling: Chocolate Chip Pancakes
I made these in the mini waffle maker, and there was enough batter for two waffles. The first one stuck horribly, because I forgot to spray it with PAM. I spent several minutes scraping my waffle out of the waffle grid, and I totally ate those crispy little waffle giblets, because that’s half my food, dude. I sprayed it and poured the rest of the batter in. Apparently, it was a little too much, and I watched in abject horror as my precious food dribbled down the outside of my waffle maker! Haha! I thought for a second about licking the outside of the machine, but really…only for like a second. That would be a terrible idea. Ahem. These were quite tasty with a drizzle of sugar free syrup or without. I look forward to having them again.
Also, Derek ran down to the gas station and got me a Powerade Zero. The electrolytes supposedly help with the headache.
3rd Fueling: Roasted Garlic Creamy Smashed Potatoes
This was pretty good! I used my waffle maker again (I’m eating so many waffles these days, and my kids get so excited when they see it. I’m like…you don’t want these waffles. They’re garlic mashed potatoes, and they’re like “…what?”), and it made a little over 2 waffles. I had it with a laughing cow cheese wedge, which didn’t really add anything but substance. I’ll gladly have this one again, and I think I’ll try it in the microwave according to the packet instructions. Powdered potato is a weird thing, though. Why can I eat these powdered potatoes but not any real ones? If I ask and someone tells me that dehydrating them removes the carbs or something, I won’t do a good job of not making my face say, “that’s super dumb,” so I’ll just keep my questions to myself. 😉
Important side note: I feel way less hungry today! Yaaaaay.
4th Fueling: Rustic Tomato Herb Penne
I had this one yesterday, and I have no new thoughts on it, except that I wonder what the heck is in it. Yesterday, I thought that there were little meat crumbles in it, but I don’t think so. I was just too hungry yesterday to really notice. Today it looked like oats. That’s totally normal, right? Tomato oatmeal with 7 noodles. Yum.

Lean and Green: Mini Mac in a Bowl
Winner! It’s supposed to be like a Big Mac salad, but I guess they called it Mini Mac so that McDonald’s wouldn’t sue them or something. Anyway, it’s 3 cups of lettuce and 5 ounces of ground beef, so it’s a pretty big salad–not too mini if you ask me. It only had 2 tablespoons of dressing, and I thought that that wouldn’t be enough for me, but I did just fine, thank you. The recipe calls for 1 ounce of dill pickle slices, and I DIDN’T EVEN MEASURE mine. I’m a rebel, man. Don’t you tell ME how many pickles to put in my salad! I do wish they’d told me to cut them up a bit, though. I’m actually a big rule follower and a major goody two shoes, and I would have listened to the “cut up your pickles” instruction. I tried to tear them with my fingers, because I was too lazy to get back up, but I sprayed pickle juice all over myself. The best option was clearly biting the pickles into smaller pieces and then depositing those smaller pieces back into my salad, but Derek was giving me serious side eye during this process. Whatevs.

5th Fueling: Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
I can’t speak to how chewy it is, because I didn’t cook it. As has been previously mentioned today, I’m feeling a bit lazy. the cookie powder packet thing smelled great, but the thought of cooking it in the microwave skeeved me out, and cooking it on the stove would have meant more dirty dishes (and the dishwasher was already loaded!), so I just ate the “dough” with a little cat head teaspoon. Somebody said eat with little spoons to make it last longer–PLUS! There’s definitely room for this spoon in the dishwasher. I scraped the bowl clean.
Good job!!
Thanks, Mom! Haha. Love you!
